Countries Take Action to Tackle Antimicrobial Resistance

Many countries are taking significant action to tackle antimicrobial resistance and minimise the growing threat to human and animal health. A recent report by the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation, World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) and the World Health Organisation (WHO) stated that while certain countries are making improvements there are still gaps where urgent attention is required in approximately 154 countries.

The report analyses surveillance, education, monitoring, and regulating the consumption and use of antimicrobial in human and animal health as well as production as recommended in the Global Action Plan published in 2016.

Antimicrobial resistance has become a cause for concern in recent years and Randox recognise the need for an accurate, reliable, multiplexing system for antibiotics and various contaminants that can end up in the human food supply chain.

Developed particularly with the dairy industry in mind, the InfiniPlex for Milk Array offers dairy processors the ability to increase confidence in their products by providing the most comprehensive test menu available on the market with an easy to use, rapid method. Using the Evidence MultiSTAT analyser to run the InfiniPlex test kits results are available for 130 contaminants in 18 minutes from a 200µl sample of raw milk.
