Quinolones are a group of synthetic antimicrobials that inhibit the activity of bacterial within the host. The main application of quinolones is the treatment of infection, including, gastrointestinal and respiratory infections. However, the presence of these residues present in milk producing cattle has to be controlled as their widespread use can lead to the emergence of antibiotic resistant bacteria.
