Malachite Green FAST ELISA

Malachite green (MG) is a triphenylmethane dye used extensively in the aquaculture industry for the treatment of fungal and protozoal infections. Malachite green (MG) has a potentially high level of abuse due to its efficacy and the lack of equally effective alternatives. It is easily absorbed during waterborne exposure and metabolised to the colourless compound, leucomalachite green, which can persist in fatty fish tissue for long periods of time. It is the leuco-form which persists in the tissue for long periods of time, for example the half-life in catfish muscle is 10-40 days for leucomalachite green (LMG) and less than 72 hours for malachite green (MG).

The Randox Food Diagnostics Malachite Green FAST ELISA test kit offers a rapid and reliable screening method for seafood analysis with an LOD of 0.5ppb.
