Randox Food Diagnostics provide official USDA approved Ractopamine screening methods, for both ELISA testing and Biochip Array Technology. These comprehensive screening methods offer accurate and reliable results with excellent limits of detection.

Ractopamine is a growth promoter belonging to the beta-agonist drug group, which are used to enhance the weight of animals and increase the proportion of lean muscle to fat. The use of Ractopamine in farming has been in decline and its use is currently banned in 160 nations due to speculations of its safety. Like many other veterinary drugs, residues of Ractopamine can be present in meat which then enters the food chain. Research has shown that a build-up of Ractopamine can cause toxicity in humans.

The global demand for unadulterated meat is at an all-time high with the consumer demand for antibiotic and drug free meat growing steadily. Randox food offers a range of comprehensive arrays for the detection and quantification of Ractopamine and other growth promoting compounds. Firstly ELISA testing can offer a 0.50ppb LOD, validated to test tissue, urine, milk and feed. Secondly the Growth Promoter Multiple Matrix arrays can be used to detect Ractopamine and 38 other compounds with an LOD of 0.3ppb. Both methods are USDA approved and globally trusted for the screening of Ractopamine.

These Ractopamine screening arrays are now available for purchase worldwide. For further details please contact enquiries@randoxfood.com
